Description Very expressive and theatrical account of the formal establishment of Williamsburgh after the Revolutionary War. Written in third person, tells story of urbanization, road building, and land subdivision in New York City-area from perspective of Bushwick farmers. Passage ends with purchase of land (about 15 acres) by Richard M. Woodhull from Samuel Titus. This purchase laid precedent for future expansion.
