The Bennett and Bentyn purchase was made in 1636. Bennett seems to have became the owner of the entire tract after a few years and to have built himself a house which was burned during the Indian war in 1643. The original sone walls form part of the Schermerhorn Mansion, Third Avenue and Twenty-eigth Street. [handwritten on page]
